Tips for Sellers

By joining the eCraftVillage community you will increase your prospects of becoming a more successful artist or craftsperson.  Below you'll find a few general tips and suggestions which are intended to help you increase responsiveness to your auction listings.

Be specific in your description.  Describe the item you're offering and its condition completely.  If the item is less than perfect, say so.  The better your description, the less likely you'll have a disappointed buyer.

Include a photograph within the description of your item.  A decent photograph can greatly increase your chances of selling the item.  Click here for tips on adding images to your auction listings, or here to find a Good Neighbor to help you photograph items or scan photos.

Include reasonable shipping costs in your auction listing description.  You can go to the Stamps.com website for assistance in providing buyers with an accurate shipping estimate.  You can also get free shipping estimates and shipping supplies from the U.S. Postal Service.

Wrap and package your items well.  eCraftVillage also recommends that you always insure everything you ship.  It is an inexpensive way to protect your work and the additional cost can be included in the shipping and handling fee.

Always be prompt with your customers.  Contact your winning bidders as soon as possible and be sure to specify how soon the buyer can expect to receive the item.  Most buyers expect merchandise to ship within 2 to 3 days after payment is received, unless otherwise stated in your description.

Be sure to utilize the feedback system.  After every auction you should use record your experience with the buyer, whether positive or negative.  Your feedback, and theirs, helps promote trust in the community and can enhance the buying experience for your customers.

You can even advertise your auction in your email or on another site.  Simply use this URL to point people to your auction:  http://ecraftvillage.com/xcauctionpro/xcapviewitem.asp?XXXX (insert your item number in place of the XXXX).

Finally, it is important for both buyers and sellers to understand that eCraftVillage assumes no responsibility for any transaction.  We cannot be responsible for items that are lost or damaged during shipping.  Nor are we responsible for any disputes between buyers and sellers.
